Western North Dakota/Eastern Montana Spring Rally

by Velma Amundson

On April 27, the Western North Dakota/Eastern Montana District of the WMF held their Spring rally in New Leipzig, ND. This was the first time that Immanuel had hosted a rally as they have only been a part of the AFLC for about 6 years. This is also my congregation, and I have to tell you how excited we were to be able to host the rally, and nervous about “doing it right”! We have a couple of ladies  who really enjoy decorating, and taking our theme, “Gratitude, Good to the last drop”, outdid themselves. Our centerpieces were cups filled with coffee beans and tea light, there were sayings, such as “The daily Grind of Christian Living” at each centerpiece! It was beautiful. The food was delicious, but honestly, have you ever been to a rally that didn’t have good food, bars and fellowship?

We had two speakers. Brent Raan is a student at the AFLC seminary and a missionary candidate to India. He and his wife, Emily, have already been on a short term missionary trip to India.  They shared a World Missions video about India, and information about their trip. They also told us that they would be returning to India this summer. It was truly enjoyable. Brent also led a Bible study based on our theme of 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. The other speaker, Marilyn Wagner, our missionary secretary, shared her experience on a short term missionary trip to Uganda, and gave us information about World Vision.

With the warm weather, the food, fellowship and spiritual nourishment, we could not have had a better day! Our next rally will be at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Beulah, currently scheduled for Oct. 12. I can’t wait!

About paulajo58

The national and district organization of the women of the AFLC (Assoc. of Free Lutheran Congregations) is called the Women’s Missionary Federation (WMF). In 1962 the women of the AFLC banded together to help further the work of the church. The society they formed became the Women’s Missionary Federation, working at home and abroad to further love in the kingdom of God, to unite the women of the AFLC in missions and Christian education, and to organize missionary activities in the local congregations.
