Day 5 of 90: Wagner Update in Ghana

Day 5/90 (Feb 5th): Yesterday, we were honored to meet the only female chief in this region of Northern Ghana, near Tamale. We had to learn customs of respect and how to introduce ourselves when we went before her throne. When she saw the children she welcomed us gladly. This activity was part of our first week orientation to Western Africa, along with our teammates the Hilberts. Today we went to the markets. Topics so far have included politics, economics, and major dos & don’ts. We have lectures & discussion in the mornings and activities in the afternoons.

The national and district organization of the women of the AFLC (Assoc. of Free Lutheran Congregations) is called the Women’s Missionary Federation (WMF). In 1962 the women of the AFLC banded together to help further the work of the church. The society they formed became the Women’s Missionary Federation, working at home and abroad to further love in the kingdom of God, to unite the women of the AFLC in missions and Christian education, and to organize missionary activities in the local congregations.
